ElectionsElections held on the six member reservations for constitutional offices are conducted in accordance with a uniform election ordinance that is adopted by the Tribal Executive Committee. Each of the six Reservation Tribal Councils are comprised of a Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer, and three Committeemen. The two officers (Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer) are elected at large by enrolled eligible voters of each reservation, while Committeemen are elected by district. The Tribal Executive Committee is comprised of the six Chairmen and six Secretary Treasurers of the member reservations. These twelve persons are elected by enrolled eligible voters of their reservations to serve four-year terms. The terms of the Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer are staggered so that elections are held every two years. The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe has systems in place for both Primary and Regular Elections.
