Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program

The mission of the FSNE Program is to improve the likelihood that Food Stamp Program (FSP) participants and applicants will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Revised Food Guide Pyramid.

In operation since 1993 this program emphasizes the four core Nutrition Education Elements of Dietary Quality, Food Security, Food Safety, and Shopoping Behavior/Food Resource Management in addition to the 2005 revised Food Guide Pyramid's emphasis on exercise. Working with the six reservations to assure culturally sensative training in the related areas, we target the USDA Commodities Food Program participants.
