Procedure for Obtaining a Tribal Liquor License

  1. Complete Liquor License Application. Send Original to: The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, Attn: Lynett Waldon, PO Box 217, Cass Lake, MN 56633.
  2. Submit a copy of the application to the Tribal Council of the reservation where the establishment is to be located for approval at their Tribal Council Meeting.
  3. When approved, have a copy of the minutes showing approval sent to the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.
  4. Once the MCT has the application and Tribal Council approval the application will be presented at the next regular TEC Meeting.
  5. Obtain Liquor Liability Insurance in accordance with State Liquor Laws. 
  6. Submit proof of insurance along with an Application for Buyers Card to Lynett Waldon at the MCT.
  7. The State will issue a Buyers Card and The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe will issue the Liquor License.
  8. Pay license fees to The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe for liquor license.
  9. Start selling Liquor.
